From what materials are the canvas prints made?

Canvas material

Our canvases are made of Genuine artist-quality canvas with a poly-cotton blend which offers more durability than most other blends. They have a satin finish which results in beautiful colors from every angle and are also easy to clean with a dry cloth. The used materials are also scratch, crack and warp resistant with long-lasting quality.

We offer two types of frames, a stretched frame and a floating frame. It’s important to know that the stretched frame is always present, also in the floating frame variants. It is called ‘stretched’ frame as the canvas print is stretched around the frame as you can see in the image below.

Stretched frame:

Stretched frames are made with a profile of Radial Pine produced from renewable forests. Our wooden profiles are Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified for sustainable forests.

Let us go through the specialities of our frames:

  1. It is Knot Free which means there are no imperfections from branches.
  2. Finger jointed frames which offer more strength.

How much commission do artists receive?

As a selling artist, it’s important to get familiar with the way pricing and payments work on the HolyMowly Marketplace. The following article should shed some light on topics like:

Base Price, Artist Margin, & Retail Price

This is how it works:

Base Price

The Base Price covers HolyMowly’s service fee and the cost of manufacturing.
Below are all base prices for each variant listed:

Stretched Canvas Prints

Canvas Prints with Floating Frame

Artist Margin (& Markup)

The Artist Margin (& Markup) show how much you make off of a sale, the markup being the percentage of the base price and the margin being the actual dollar amount.

Usually our artists apply a 20% markup, which leads to the following Retail Prices and profit margins:

Stretched Canvas Prints

Canvas Prints with Floating Frame

You can implement these margins or set your own markup percentage. You can always change your margin by updating the prices of your products.

Retail Price

The base price and artist margin combine to create the retail price, which is the price you see for each product across the HolyMowly website.

Let’s use an example:

Large size canvas prints have a base price of $98.76 USD.
You set a 20% markup for large framed art prints. 20% of the $98.76 base prices means you get an artist margin of $19.75.
$98.76 base price + $19.75 artist margin makes for $118.51 retail price.

Please note: prices are usually rounded to .95, This extra margin is also part of your profit margin.
